Operated by Bloom Social (Australia). Support: hello@bloomapp.com.au

1. Who we are

Bloom Social (Australia) (“Bloom”, “we”) operates bloomapp.com.au and the Bloom apps. This policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal information. Privacy requests: rachael@bloomapp.com.au. General support: hello@bloomapp.com.au.

2. Information we collect

  • Account data: email, phone (if used), password hashes, display name, birthday/age confirmation, gender, pronouns, photos, preferences, location (suburb/postcode or approximate location you choose).
  • Usage data: device/app info, IP address, logs, feature use, reports you submit or that concern you.
  • Messages: direct message content, timestamps, and delivery status needed to provide chat.
  • Payments: plan type and subscription status. Card details are handled by our payment processor (for example Stripe or a successor such as Checkout.com); we do not store full card numbers.
  • Identity verification: when you verify, a third-party provider (for example Stripe Identity, and in future Persona or Sumsub) may collect ID images and biometric/liveness data. We receive a verification result and limited metadata, not a copy of your ID to store as a general practice.
  • Business data: if you list a business — business name, contact, location, and billing details for business plans.

3. How we use information

  • Provide matching, messaging, Discover, Village, and memberships
  • Process payments and prevent fraud or chargeback abuse
  • Moderate safety reports and enforce our Terms and Guidelines
  • Improve the product and communicate service messages
  • Comply with law and protect rights and safety

4. Messages — storage, access, retention

Storage: Message content and related metadata are stored securely to provide messaging.

Access: We do not read private messages in normal operations. Authorized staff may review specific chats when a user reports harassment, abuse, or illegal activity, or when automated safety systems flag severe Terms violations.

Retention: After account deletion, we generally remove personal data from active systems within about 30 days, except where we must retain records (for example bans for serious misconduct, legal holds, or dispute resolution). Banned accounts may retain profile and related logs for longer to prevent re-registration and protect the community.

5. Sharing

We share data with:

  • Service providers: hosting (e.g. Supabase/Vercel), email/SMS, analytics (if enabled), payment processors, and identity verification vendors — only as needed to run Bloom.
  • Other users: profile information you choose to show (photos, bio, etc.).
  • Law enforcement: when required by law or to protect safety.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Cookies and similar tech

We use cookies and similar technologies for login sessions, security, and basic site function. You can control cookies in your browser; some features may not work without them.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls). No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and keep devices updated.

8. Your rights

Depending on applicable Australian privacy law, you may request access to or correction of your personal information, or ask us to delete your account. Contact rachael@bloomapp.com.au. Some data may be retained where legally required or for legitimate safety purposes (see bans above).

9. Children

Bloom is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has an account, report it in-app or email hello@bloomapp.com.au.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change; continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy where permitted by law. See also our Terms of Service.
